Dr. Jean-François Légaré is the Clinical Head of the New Brunswick Heart Centre, part of Horizon Health Network, and previously served as a cardiac surgeon, Director of Research and Director of Cardiac Transplantation in the cardiac surgery division at the Maritime Heart Centre in Halifax. He completed his medical degree at McGill University, and his training in cardiac surgery at Dalhousie University. His clinical interests include surgery for end-stage heart failure and valve surgery with an emphasis on clinical outcomes and performance indicators. Research interests have also included the role of immune-cell infiltration/inflammation in development of heart failure, with particular emphasis on fibrosis.
